Workshop on effective employers' organisations held in Mongolia

From April 21-23, the basic training for employers' organisations was held in Mongolia for board and staff of the Mongolian Employers Federation MONEF. As usual, this workshop was given by the International Training Centre of the ILO and IOE and by DECP. Subjects like lobbying, advocacy and social dialogue were covered. The participants were enthusiastic about the programme and participated actively in the discussions.

Jan Karel Bout and Thieu Korten arrived in Mongolia one week earlier to visit the MONEF in Ulaanbaatar. MONEF had prepared several meetings with the president and vice-president/ CEO of MONEF. Discussions were also held with several representatives of Ministries, the trade union, the Chamber of Commerce and the World Bank, thus giving a good understanding of the Mongolian economy and the relation between the main stakeholders.

This so-called fact-finding mission was closed with the signing of a Partnership Agreement between MONEF and DECP.
