Visit to the Suriname Trade and Industry Association (VSB)

Special advisor Thieu Korten of DECP paid a regular visit to DECP partner Suriname Trade and Industry Association (VSB/STIA) from the 8^th to the 12^th of April 2013. The visit was combined with the attendance of the annual meeting of the Caribbean Employers’ Confederation which was organized in Paramaribo. DECP discussed the following subjects with the VSB: publication of an investment handbook, improvement of the website, the organisation of a workshop to stimulate activities to diminish the informality of the Suriname economy and the organization of an event for the Employer of the Year Award at the end of this year.
The visit to the VSB was also combined with a visit to the Dutch Embassy where the current political and social economic situation was discussed and a company visit to the goldmine Rosebel part of the IAMGOLD company.
