Training-of-trainers in negotiation skills Rwanda
From July 6-10, two trainers from the general employers association AWVN in The Netherlands, Marjolein Otter and Dirk Joosse, travelled to Kigali to teach future trainers on how to give a training in negotiation techniques. They were accompanied and assisted by DECP's special advisor Jan Karel Bout.
The objective of this activity is to generate more services for the employers federations of Kenya (FKE), Uganda (FUE), Tanzania (ATE) and PSF (Rwanda). Each of these countries had delegated 3 trainers or future trainers to Kigali and during the first 2 days these persons were trained to become a trainer in their own country. During the last three days of the week, atraining course was given for 16 persons invited by the Private Sector Federation (PSF) of Rwanda. This course was also attended by the trainers so that the last three days the group consisted of future trainers as well as members and staff of PSF (a total of 28 persons).
This training activity is part of a long-term programme: in December 2009 a similar combined training will take place. This time the trainers will receive training in Uganda, after which a negotiation training for members and staff of FUE will take place. Also in 2010 two activities are being planned.
The Training Centre of ILO in Turin (ITC) gave its valuable support to this project by taking care of the logistic details, naturally in close cooperation with the PSF.
