Training for the eastern provinces and districts of APINDO Indonesia
From March 30th til April 3rd , 2009 the training 'Effective Employers Organization' took place on the island of Bali. In total 43 participants from 15 APINDO branches from the eastern regions of Indonesia were trained. The training was the fourth training organized by ITC/ILO, ILO Jakarta and DECP since 2006 and frames with the plans of the Chairman of APINDO to build up the capacity in the local districts, by a basic training for their Board members. In 2008, the western regions of Indonesia received a similar training.
In essence, the training focused on three themes: -howto increase membership; -howto make lobbying / advocacy more effective; -howto improve membership services and start creating also some paying services.
The training was managed by Arnout de Koster, Programme Manager of ITC/ILO. Tutors were Jan Karel Bout from DECP, Ms Kathryn Asare, communications Manager from 'Business New Zeeland' and Mr. Hou and Ms Ismail from the Malaysian Employers Federation, who taught about membership and development of regions.
At the special request of DECP, Asbjorn Rosseth of the Norwegian Employers Federation NHO attended the event.
The course itself was overall successful and received a very positive evaluation from the participants who actively took part in the training and in the discussion groups.
