The Employer of the Year Award in Zambia
The Zambian Federation of Employers held its 2010 Employer of the Year Award on Saturday 23rd October 2010 at Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka.
Deserving employers were awarded based on the exemplary workplace policies they introduced as well as programs aimed at improving productivity. This year a new category on Corporate Social responsibility was included.
Guest of Honour was the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Hon Austin Liato MP. Liato commended ZFE for organizing the event and urged employers in Zambia to join the Federation and also to embrace the labour laws in the country. He emphasized the fact that one of the reasons that ZFE exists is to guide employers on the provisions of the Zambian.
Labour Laws and that it was important for all employers in the country to belong to ZFE. The Zambia Federation of Employers’ President, Dr. George G. Chabwera, noted in his welcoming speech that when the Employer Award of the Year was introduced last year, he was not sure about its sustainability looking at what was involved in organizing the event but he was pleased that the response from the employers was overwhelming. He thanked the organizing Committee of the 2010 EYA for their good work and the sponsors for their support. He was also grateful to the Dutch Employers Cooperation Programme (DECP) who were the main sponsors.
