The EAEO's Executive Committee meets in Nairobi
The DECP undertook a two day mission to Nairobi on 17 & 18 September 2015.
The first day of the mission was spent at the offices of the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE). This provided the DECP country manager Andrew Moore with the opportunity to discuss the current position of the proposed “FKE Business Agenda”. It was established that the document is in its final stages and is expected to be approved by the FKE Board and then launched in November at a major employment conference in Mombasa. Discussions also took place on the follow up on staff training on recruitment and retention of members which had been supported by the DECP. A number of practices had been put in place but more work needed to be done.
During the second day of the mission the DECP attended a meeting of the Executive Committee of the East African Employers Organisation (EAEO). The meeting provided the opportunity to discuss a proposed project for 2016 which could be jointly funded by employers and trade unions to assist in the free movement of workers in the East African Community. The meeting also provided the opportunity to discuss a number of administrative arrangements for the transition of funding from the DECP to the Norwegian employers the NHO.
