(Tarija) Getting to know the employers federation of Tarija
In November 2013 DECP’s country manager Peter Boorsma visited the Federación de Empresarios Privados in Tarija (FEPT) in the south of Bolivia in order to get acqainted with the FEPT and explore possible cooperation. Although the FEPT is only 1,5 years old, the employers’ organization had already two success stories. One is the exchange program with the Argentinian entrepreneurs at the other side of the border. The other is the fact that next years’ trade fair will be organized jointly by the municipality and the FEPT. The organization of the fair probably will be transferred to the employers completely from 2015 onwards.
Tarija is called the Andalusia of Bolivia because of its climate, its people and the production of wine and ham. It is the region with major reserves of natural gas end although the department is small with about half a million inhabitants, the economy is quite dynamic.
