Round Table on the revision of the Labour Law

On Thursday 19 May 2011, CNPM organised a Round Table in Chisinau about the revision of the labour code of Moldova. Last December, the board of CNPM decided that this revision would be a priority for CNPM in 2011. A working group with experts of members of CNPM prepared several proposals over a 3 months period. The aim was to update the labour code to respond to the changes in the labour market and to remove obstacles for attracting foreign investors in Moldova. The activities were coordinated by Mrs. Valentina Postolachi, director of CNPM.

As a result of the Round Table both the government and the social partners agreed to negotiate common proposals for a modern version of the labour code. The Round Table was chaired by Mr. Cerescu, president of CNPM, and attended by Mr. Sainciuc, vice-minister of labour and social affairs. DECP, who financially supported the round table, was represented by J.M. Standaert.
