Round Table by the Albanian Food&Drink Association

On Tuesday 28 October BiznesAlbania with its member BUP (Albanian Food & Drink Industry) and support of DECP organised a Round Table in Tirana on the challenges of the EU-regulations for the Albanian Food and Drink Industry.

The event was chaired by Mr. Luan Bregasi, president of BiznesAlbania and of BUP. About 25 participants were also welcomed by the minister of agriculture, Prof. Edmond Panariti, who underlined his intention to increase the exports of Albanian food and drink products. Mrs. Mella Fewen, director general of FoodDrinkEurope, confirmed the readiness of her organisation to assist BUP in the accession process of Albania to the EU.

A first interesting presentation was given by prof. Kongoli about the Albanian Food and Drink enterprises, followed by a presentation about FoodDrinkEurope by Mr. Dirk Jacobs, deputy director.

The round table was also attended by Mr. Gilles Bauwens, economic advisor at the Dutch Embassy in Tirana and by Mr. J.M. Standaert, special advisor of DECP.

At the end of the visit of the FoodDrinkEurope delegation, Mr. Luan Bregasi announced that the Albanian Food and Drink Business BUP will soon apply for observer membership of FoodDrinkEurope.
