Next steps for the Federation of Kenya Employers

A one day mission to Nairobi by the DECP country manager Andrew Moore provided the opportunity to meet with Jacqueline Mugo the Executive Director of the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE). The meeting discussed possible future developments within the FKE and what role the DECP could play in providing technical support.

The meeting also provided the opportunity to discuss current developments of the East African Employers Organisation (EAEO) of which Jacqueline Mugo is currently the Chair. It was agreed that a review would take  place now that the coordinator has been in place for six months.

The recently launched FKE Manifesto sets out what Kenya employers are looking from the political parties as they move towards Elections in March 2013. This document had been launched to the press on 27 July and was now to be sent to all political parties and to FKE membership. DECP discussed with senior FKE staff a possible strategy for taking this work forward.
