Negotiating in Nepal. Go for it!

The DECP undertook a two day workshop for the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in Kathmandu in December 2019. The workshop which was facilitated by Dirk Joosse and Andrew Moore from the DECP was attended by some 23 delegates from the seven FNCCI provinces across Nepal.

The main part of the workshop was taken up with Dirk Joosse developing the negotiation skills of the delegates. This was done with the help of a role play exercise together with presentations on the key aspects of negotiation. During the various Q and A’s during the training the participants showed that the knowledge and skills obtained during this training really will be relevant in their daily experiences in Industrial Relations in the various Provinces.

The workshop also provided the opportunity for the delegates from across Nepal to network and also to discuss in detail a number of the challenges they are facing as the provinces have only been established for some two years and are in an early stage of development.

Resulting from the outcome of the workshop the DECP will work with the FNCCI at a central level to provide the required support for provincial development
