National Conference on Social Partnership
On Thursday 29 September 2010, the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia (RUEA), with the financial support of DECP, organised in Yerevan the First National Conference on Social Partnership. The aim of the conference was to improve the social partnership in Armenia after the conclusion of the Social Partnership Agreement in April 2009.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr. Arsen Gasaryan, president of RUEA. He welcomed about 150 participants, among them the president and vice-president of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia (CTUA), the Head of the Republic of Armenia National Security Council Secretary and the vice-minister of labour and social security. DECP was represented by its country manager for Armenia, Jean-Marie Standaert. Overall view of the Conference
The conference was a very successful event with several examples of social partnership in the country. However, one of the conclusions of this first national conference is that a lot of initiatives have to be undertaken in order to improve the social partnership at the state level.
On Thursday 30 September J.M. Standaert conducted 2 workshops with staff members of RUEA about setting up an external OSH-service for the members and a “contribution payment centre” as new service for the members of RUEA.
