MONEF promotes a strong vocational skills policy
The Mongolian Federation of Employers MONEF took a big step in the direction of a strong vocational skills policy. It recently set up a centre for occupational standards and at a seminar in September 2018 two of its sectors - the meat processing industry and construction - decided to start a programme on promoting in-company training.
This September seminar was organised with the help of DECP. Skills specialist Jos van Erp played a vital part in convincing the sectors to aim at self-help in improving skills on the work place instead of turning to the Government. He argued that, when efficient in-company training schemes are in place, they could be used for lobbying in order to get better vocational schools. The skills training schemes of the meat-processing and construction sectors should become operational at the start of 2019.
