Meeting the Chair of the EAEO

The DECP undertook a one day mission to the Nairobi on 17 May 2012.  The mission provided an opportunity for the country manager Andrew Moore to meet with Corinne Abbas at the Netherlands Embassy in Nairobi to brief her on developments with the East African Employers Organisation (EAEO) as well as work being undertaken with the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE).

Resulting from a considerable amount of input from the DECP the FKE had produced an “FKE Membership Pack” which provides information for current and potential members on what the FKE can offer. The FKE had also produced a draft “FKE Manifesto” which sets out what employers are looking from the political parties as they move towards the General Elections in Kenya at the end of 2012 or in early 2013.

The mission also provided an opportunity for the DECP to meet with the Chair of the EAEO Jacqueline Mugo to discuss a number of areas of concern regarding EAEO developments in Arusha. It was agreed that these issues would be discussed during the course of a meeting to be held in Geneva during the course of the ILO Conference.
