Maximising the influence of Employers' Organisations
One of DECP’s most ambitious current projects is the one undertaken with the ILO-ITC with a grant by the EU’s Pro€Invest programme. It involves employers’ organisations (EO’s) in Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. The overall objective is to contribute to the improvement of the business climate in East-Africa and Ghana, by stimulating private sector development through the institutional strengthening of employers’ organisations such as the Ghana Employers’ Association (GEA), the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), the Rwanda Private Sector Federation (PSF), the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) and
the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE). The project involves a wide variety of activities including the drafting of position papers, a review of services presently offered, development of regional networks and partnerships, specialised seminars on lobbying, advocacy and the delivery of services.
The project also enables the EO’s to hire additional staff to do research, draft policy papers and develop services for members.
