Looking ahead to 2014 and beyond
From Aug. 12-14 the DECP undertook a three day mission to the Ghana Employers Association (GEA) in Accra, Ghana. The main objective of the mission was to discuss possible areas of collaboration between the DECP and the GEA for the period 2014-2017. Among the areas discussed were industrial relations, pensions, counterfeit trade and good and skills development.
It was agreed with the GEA Executive Director that it would be very useful to hold a workshop for members of the GEA Council to train them on their role and responsibilities as Council members. This workshop would be supported both technically and financially by the DECP.
During the course of the mission Andrew Moore the DECP Country Manager attended a meeting of GEA members involved in the shipping industry. The meeting provided the opportunity for the GEA to brief a number of its members on a wide range of issues on which GEA are currently advocating at a national level. The meeting also provided the opportunity for members to raise particular concerns that they have within the shipping industry.
