Introducing Social Dialogue in provinces
On Thursday 27th of April an important step was made in the co-operation between DECP and APINDO. At that date a Round table was held together with the Indonesian Trade Union KSBSI, and its Dutch partner CNV Internationaal. The four partner organisations around the table decided to start a social dialogue project in the Indonesian provinces (SDI).
At the meeting five ‘model’ provinces were selected, in West- and East Java, South Sumatra, East Kalimantan and South Sulawesi. In the autumn of 2017 APINDO and KSBSI, with support from DECP and CNV Internationaal, will start the social dialogue there. In addition a pool of Indonesian trainers will be set up; they will introduce SDI in the other Indonesian provinces.
In the SDI the social partners can discuss and agree upon early warning systems in the case of labour conflicts; skills development; health & safety issues; guidelines for wages etc..
The SDI project will cover several years, and started officially with the Round Table meeting, at which a memorandum of understanding was signed between the four partners.
