Government appreciates RUEA's role
Under the theme “To a better and healthy life at work”, the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia (RUEA) organised the 2nd Social Partnership Conference in Yerevan: more than 140 experts and representatives of the government and social partners attended this 2 days event which took place on 11 and 12 October. The conference was chaired by Mr. Gagik Makaryan, the new president of RUEA. Opening addresses were given by the new Minister of Labour and Social Affairs who congratulated RUEA with its initiative and wished all participants a fruitful conference. The minister’s positive tone and comments were highly welcomed by the RUEA leadership as a clear sign of recognition and appreciation of RUEA’s role in the creation of a better social and economic environment in Armenia.
The activity was co-financed by DECP which was represented by its country manager, J.M. Standaert, who made a presentation on the obligations of employers on OSH.
The conference was also supported by the ILO-Moscow office and by the EU-agency on OSH in Bilbao. There was also an interesting presentation on the activities of the Dutch Activa foundation on their projects for disabled workers in Armenia.
