Getting to know the Employers Organisation (BEF)

The DECP undertook a fact finding mission to Dhaka to meet with the Bangladesh Employers Federation (BEF) to explore the possibility of possible cooperation between the two organisations.

The meeting with the BEF provided the opportunity for the DECP to discuss the work of the South Asia Federation of Employers (SAFE) which provided the Employers Organisations within the region to meet on an annual basis and exchange information and good practise.

The meeting then explored areas on which the DECP could provide some technical knowledge which would be of assistance to the BEF. Possible areas for development included increasing its membership, closer collaboration with sectoral associations, and also the BEF’s relationships with the government and trade unions of Bangladesh.

The mission also provided the opportunity for the DECP to meet with the Netherlands Ambassador to Bangladesh and to brief her on the discussions with the BEF.
