Fact-finding mission and workshops in Nicaragua
A DECP delegation which consisted of deputy director Thieu Korten, office manager Christine Rehbock and VNO-NCW senior advisor Sip Nieuwsma visited Nicaragua from 8th to 12th of September to set up a cooperation programme with the Cámara de Industrias de Nicaragua (CADIN) and the umbrella organisation COSEP.
Thru meetings with the president and the executive staff of CADIN and COSEP, a representative of the World Bank, the minister of Development, Industry and Trade, a representative of the Ministry of Financial Affairs, INPYME (a government support institute for SME's) as well as with CPMEN, a private women’s support organisation, DECP got a good insight in the social and economic situation of Nicaragua.
In the coming months a Partnership Agreement with a 3 year cooperation programme will be drafted which could be signed at CADIN's annual meeting in February 2009.
The fact-finding mission was combined with 2 workshops on "Attracting and keeping members" and "Social Dialogue" for members of CADIN and other member chambers of the Confederation COSEP.
