ECOP. It’s all about the members!
The DECP undertook a two day advisory mission to the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) in Manila. The main objective of the mission was to discuss in detail the number of challenges facing ECOP in respect of recruitment and retention of its membership.
The main challenge facing ECOP is finding ways in which the current membership will pay their subscription and take advantage of the many services offered by the organisation. It was suggested that a survey of the current membership together with a number of non-members should take place in order to establish a Membership Strategy for 2020.
ECOP also suggested that they would like to see an increase in services which could include a Compensation and Benefits Survey which would be made available to at a cost to its members. ECOP has in the past undertaken such a survey but believe that a newly designed survey would be beneficial. The DECP agreed to look into possible support.
ECOP currently has a Membership Pack which it uses when recruiting potential new members. It was suggested that a more comprehensive tool box of services would be useful in informing current and potential members of what was on offer.
ECOP has agreed to hold a two day workshop on how it can be more effective in communicating with its members through Social Media. This workshop will take place in Manila in November.
During the course of the mission a meeting was held with the Netherlands Ambassador and her Deputy to the Philippines. The DECP briefed them on its work with ECOP and the plans for 2020. The Ambassador kindly offered the use of the Residence to introduce Dutch companies to the work of ECOP.
