DECP workshops on communication strategy in Bolivia
From 17-21 May, 2011 DECP organized two workshops about communication strategy for 2 umbrella organizations in Bolivia, one established in Oruro and the other one active in the province of Chuquisaca. These federations, the Federación de la Empresa Privada de Oruro and the Federación de la Empresa Privada de Chuquisaca had invited their member organizations to attend.
During the workshops the DECP expert Peter Boorsma explained how an effective communication can contribute to the realization of the objectives of the federation, how one could develop an effective communication strategy and how to deal with the press. Both workshops were well attended. Also two very lively colloquiums were organized with the members of the press about how to improve the relation between employers and journalists.
During the workshops, Peter Boorsma underlined the possibilities of free publicity which is a cheap and very effective way of communicating. However, in order to get free publicity it is very important to understand the role of journalists and the principles of what is ‘news’.
