Crosscutting event on Migration for ASEAN and SAFE countries

In collaboration with the ILO Training Centre ITCILO, the DECP held a two day workshop at the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) in Kuala Lumpur. The workshop looked in detail at “Maximising the role of employers’ organisations in the ACE and SAFE countries in fostering safe and productive migration”.

The workshop was held on 21 & 22 November 2019 and was attended by some 27 delegates from the South Asian Forum of Employers (SAFE) and the ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE).

This was the first time that these organisations had worked together and it provided the opportunity for them to share best practises as well as to hear about some possible tools that are available to help in their work on Migration.

Resulting from the discussion over the two days each organisation agreed on a number of action points to be undertaken at a national as well as at a regional level.

It was agreed that a follow up event should be considered mid-2020.
