Advisory mission to the ATE in Tanzania
DECP Country manager Andrew Moore visited the Association of Tanzania Employers ATE from August 10 -14, 2009 as part of his regular advisory missions to ATE.
As part of the 5-year plan of DANIDA/COWI to support the ATE in strengthening their Association, it had already been agreed upon during Andrew's visit in April that the ATE would forward a proposal to DANIDA for the appointment of a consultant who would be responsible for putting in place a sustainable membership strategy. This person would at the same time act as a mentor for the development of a newly appointed member of staff who would carry on the work after those six months. In the meantime, this consultant has been appointed and subject final agreement from COWI, he will start his activities as of next month. COWI and DECP agreed that Andrew Moore would keep a close eye on the developments of this activity.
Furthermore, a number of ideas were discussed with ATE's Executive Director on how to help build up their regional structure. These ideas will be further developed in the coming months.
During his time in Dar es Salaam, Andrew Moore also took the time to hold his usual meeting with Mirjam Tjassing, Economic officer at the Netherlands Embassy, during which he briefed her on DECP's activities.
