Advisory mission to FKE
A two day mission to the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) by the DECP country manager for Kenya Andrew Moore, provided the opportunity to take forward a number of issues agreed between the FKE and the DECP for the period 2014-17.
It was agreed that FKE would hold meetings over the coming months with members both in Nairobi and across the regions to agree on the key issues to be included in the new “FKE Business Agenda” to be published in early 2015.
One of the key objectives for the DECP is cultivate a network for Employers Organisations members of staff who are undertaking similar work in their respective countries. It is proposed that those involved in Training and Consultancy work will meet in Nairobi in November to discuss common areas of interest and concern. The mission provided the opportunity for the DECP to discuss the proposed programme.
The FKE is undertaking major review of its regional network as part of its response to the countries new Constitution. The DECP is supporting two interns to work within the FKE to undertake a mapping exercise of members and potential members across Kenya. The DECP met with the interns during the course of the mission.
