Advisory mission to Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE)

From April 14-18 Andrew Moore (DECP Country Manager for Tanzania) visited the ATE. It was his first visit after the fact-finding mission that took place in November last year.

A number of general issues were discussed and, where necessary, Andrew Moore provided the ATE with advice, based on his vast experience in managerial functions with the British Employers' organisation CBI.

Amongst others, following issues were discussed:

* the importance of providing a Membership pack to new members, which brings together all

   relevant information of services the ATE can offer to potential new members;

* improving communication with members thru a newsletter by e-mail and by website;

* various matters regarding subscriptions;

* improving existing activities (like the Employer of the Year) and developing new ones (e.g.

   regular briefings with members).

Both the ATE and DECP considered the visit to be a fruitful one with many cooperation possibilities for the future.
